Through the activities of the Center for Historic American Visual Culture (CHAViC), the American Antiquarian Society is making its visual collections better known and introducing these materials to scholars to suggest the possibilities of their use in academic research and teaching. Past conferences have examined the visual and material culture of New England to 1830; childhood as seen through text, images, and pedagogical materials; and visual culture for and of men. CHAViC solicits proposals for its November 2010 conference to be held in Worcester, Massachusetts. |
